DePaul’s Boxcar Apartments in Albion, NY has received LEED for Homes Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. USGBC’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system is the benchmark metric for sustainable design, providing third-party certification for buildings designed to save energy, resources and provide improved environments for their residents.
Named for its location next to the railroad on Liberty Street, Boxcar Apartments offers 40 affordable one- and two-bedroom units in Albion, NY. Fifteen units are reserved for the Supportive Housing Program, providing support services so the residents can live successfully in the community. There are 9 one-bedroom units and 1 two-bedroom unit with ADA accessibility and 2 one-bedroom units with hearing and visually accessibility (HVA) in the building. The building amenities include a community room, lounges and computer lab.
