Shirah Kasongo Cahill, RLA, Earns EDAC Certification

Congratulations to Landscape Architecture Manager Shirah Kasongo Cahill, RLA for earning her Evidence-based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC®).

Evidence-Based Design (EBD) is the process of basing healthcare facility planning and design decisions about the built environment on credible research to achieve the best possible patient, staff, and operational outcomes.

Administered by The Center for Health Design, the internationally recognized EDAC program awards a credential to individuals who demonstrate an understanding of how to apply an evidence-based process to the design and construction of all settings that contribute to health, safety and wellbeing including measuring and reporting results.

As an EDAC designer, Shirah incorporates the evidence-based process into her work to support design decisions that improve workflow and client experience and achieve measurable and positive outcomes for the end user.

She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University of Toronto, Ontario, and a Master of Landscape Architecture from SUNY Environmental College of Science and Forestry in Syracuse and has been with SWBR since 2015.
