Sennett Meadows Senior Apartments Receives LEED Certification
Rochester’s Cornerstone Group’s Sennett Meadows Senior Apartments received LEED for Homes Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. USGBC’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system is the benchmark metric for sustainable design, providing third-party certification for buildings designed to save energy, resources, and provide improved environments for their residents.
The recently completed affordable housing community, located in picturesque Sennett, NY, features 60 new energy-efficient homes for people aged 55 and over. Eighteen units offer supportive services for seniors and veterans with physical disabilities. The new development includes community gardens, a fitness center, and a media room. Energy efficient features include enhanced ventilation, balanced heating and cooling systems, rainwater management, low energy use, and low emitting products.
“With 60 units of affordable, energy-efficient housing and wraparound services for seniors and New Yorkers with disabilities, Sennett Meadows will provide exactly the kind of housing New York needs,” said New York Governor Kathy Hochul.
The project is a partnership between Sennett Senior Apartments LLC, Genesis Housing Development Corporation, and Cornerstone Property Managers.
