Lifetime Assistance hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony October 19 to celebrate the completion of Frances II Apartments in Sweden, NY. The second phase of the Frances Apartments project adds 48 units of affordable housing, including inclusive options for people with disabilities. It also aligns with the town’s Comprehensive Plan by converting vacant land to multi-family residential, filling the need for housing with a variety of style and prices. The first phase of the development was completed in 2017.
The $12.8 million project included the construction of four new buildings offering 48 units of affordable rental housing. The buildings offer inclusive options for people with disabilities through handicap accessible common areas, grounds, and ground floor units. The Community Building in the Frances Apartment Complex, also part of the expansion, features a large community room and accessible kitchen, computers and internet access for resident use and laundry facilities. The expansion included 24 one-bedroom units and 24 three-bedroom units.
“This new supportive housing development builds upon our continued efforts and investments in communities across the state, providing 48 brand-new apartments for those in need of secure and supportive services,” said Governor Andrew Cuomo.
SWBR provided architectural and structural engineering design services for the project.
