Happiness House hosted a virtual ribbon cutting ceremony February 16 to celebrate the completion of Happiness House Phase II Apartments in Canandaigua, NY. The second phase of the affordable housing development provides 30 homes for families, seniors, and households experiencing homelessness.
The new development includes a two-story building with 22 apartments and a one-story building with eight studio apartments specifically designed for seniors aged 55 and older. All apartments are affordable to households earning at or below 50 percent of the area median income. Residents have access to an array of support services, including mobility, memory boosting and social supports, as well as recovery services for individuals who have faced substance abuse.
“Happiness House’s mission is to provide safe and affordable housing to those in need in our communities,” said Happiness House President and CEO Mary Boatfield. “We are so fortunate to have collaborated with our state and community partners in the development of physical and social environments that promote overall wellness for all individuals who live in our region.”
The project received funding through New York State Homes and Community Renewal, Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, Homeless Housing and Assistance Program, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, The Golisano Foundation, and the Federal Home Loan Bank.
SWBR provided architectural and structural engineering design services for the project.
