Port Byron Apartments Receives LEED Certification

DePaul’s Port Byron Apartments received LEED for Homes Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. USGBC’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system is the benchmark metric for sustainable design, providing third-party certification for buildings designed to save energy, resources, and provide improved environments for their residents.

Located in a residential area close to local amenities, the new 69-unit affordable housing community offers a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom modern and energy efficient apartments. In addition to a community room, lounges, and courtyard, the complex includes an activity room for families. The building’s design was inspired by a nearby former train stop, part of the historic Rochester, Syracuse and Eastern Electric Railway.

SWBR provided architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, and structural engineering services for the project.
