On February 29, our design team joined state and local officials to celebrate the grand opening of the Paychex Junior Achievement Discovery Center in Rochester.
Junior Achievement is a leading organization empowering youth with essential knowledge for economic success. Through programs like JA BizTown and Finance Park, students gain the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices.
The 18,000 SF Discovery Center, the first such center in New York, is focused on developing work readiness skills, career awareness, financial self-sufficiency, and entrepreneurial thinking. The new learning lab, constructed in a former gymnasium at Kodak Center, is expected to bring this immersive experience to thousands of local students.
This proven national model allows the next generation to develop the critical knowledge and behaviors that support economic self-sufficiency, helping to alleviate the challenges of generational poverty and the lack of skilled workers in the region.
“The Paychex JA Discovery Center is truly a game-changer for middle and high school students in our community,” said Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council Co-Chairs and Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Bob Duffy and Geneseo President Denise Battles” “This hands-on learning center will help to enrich their lives, helping them to become more engaged citizens as they strive to learn about the in-demand careers available in the area.”
