Officials unveiled the $9 million renovation project at an affordable senior housing complex in Waverly.
The Elizabeth Square Apartments is a 75-unit building caters to those older than 62 or are disabled or handicapped. It was originally built in 1983.
The renovation of the six-story building included the installation of new windows and doors, a new insulated roofing system, masonry repointing, elevator car modernization, a state of the art entry monitoring system, emergency back-up generator, electric baseboard heaters, and a new deck and entry canopy. The common areas all received a fresh coat of paint and new flooring. Individual apartments were updated with new paint, flooring, ceilings, kitchen cabinets and counters, and new bathrooms.
Officials say the project allows residents to continue to live independently.
