Eagle Star Housing for Homeless Veterans Opens in Farmington, NY

Eagle Star Housing’s Safe Haven, a new 20 bed facility for homeless veterans in Farmington, NY, recently celebrated its grand opening.

The goal of the Safe Haven housing program is to provide veterans living on the street, or in unfit conditions, a safe residential environment with sufficient services to meet their needs. The facility, designed by SWBR, has 15 bedrooms with 4 beds designated for homeless female Veterans and 16 beds designated for homeless male Veterans.

The project is part of Eagle Star Housing’s mission to help homeless veterans become self-sufficient. The group provides transitional housing, meals, medication oversight, and life skills training for residents.

“Our most vulnerable veterans that we serve will be served here in this facility,” said Erin Militello, Program Manager for the Department of Veterans Affairs Homeless Services.

SWBR provided architectural and structural engineering design services for the project.
