Congratulations to Ben Blades on being promoted to Reality Capture Technician for the firm. As our laser scanning expert, Ben has been leading the integration of reality capture technologies into the design process, enhancing our in-house capabilities.
In addition to his role as a Project Designer in our Education Studio, Ben manages our reality capture technology, which is the process of scanning an object, building, or site and converting that data into a highly accurate digital model.
Since joining the firm full time in 2018, following his high school and college internships, Ben has been passionate about advancing his knowledge and skillset about technology and how it benefits the architecture and design process. “Having the ability to quickly and accurately gather information and identify unforeseen conditions saves critical time throughout the design and construction process,” says Ben.
In his free time, Ben volunteers with the Community Design Center of Rochester, assisting the organization with information and technology management and participating in design charrettes. He also enjoys playing baseball, painting, fishing, and DIY home projects. He is a graduate of Alfred State College and lives in Rochester.
