We had another successful Earth Week celebration! The week-long series of discussions, held daily at our Rochester office, was hosted by various team members. The purpose was to provide educational opportunities and celebrations of Earth Week on all things sustainable.
The week of presentations and hands-on activities was capped off with an informative and fun presentation by several employees. The “Present it in 5” event challenged every speaker to present a topic related to sustainability in 5 minutes. Topics included the benefits of manure in farming, worm composting, knitting with plastic grocery bags, and a review of the firm’s annual waste audit.
In addition to the education sessions, we held a week-long raffle and silent auction of sustainable and environmentally friendly products donated by various businesses. By the end of the week, nearly $800 was raised for the Natural Resources Defense Council, an organization that works to safeguard the earth—its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends. Thank you to Marlee Finestone, ASLA for leading this initiave.
A special thanks to our Green Ops Task Force, led by Kristin Purdy, AIA for making this happen!
