Roberts Wesleyan University Crothers Science and Nursing Center

Innovative and efficient academic building for nursing and science education.

To keep their Science and Nursing programs competitive and cutting edge, Roberts Wesleyan University added a new building connected to the existing Smith Science Center to accommodate the new technologies and teaching methodologies the programs needed. The new high tech, high concept building facilitates hands-on teaching with science and nursing labs, auxiliary spaces, and state-of-the-art teaching labs. The building fosters collaboration by locating student commons and study spaces at major intersections throughout the building.

Revitalized Campus Image

The siting of the building establishes a new, visible face for the campus along the main campus drive and from off-campus.

Making Connections

The courtyard and main entry encourage connections between departments, faculty, and students.

Collaboration

The building fosters collaboration by locating student commons and study spaces at major intersections throughout the building.

Simulation Center

The space includes lifelike adult and child manikins that speak, breathe, and blink, allowing a true hands-on nursing experience as student learn in a variety of scenarios such as childbirth and illness.

Learning Lab

The 24-student practice lab, with hospital beds and adjacent headwall design, simulate a real-life hospital experience for graduate students and undergrads.
