Monroe Community College R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center
MCC’s growth has been explosive, driving the need for expansion and reconsolidation of student related services. SWBR designed a new, state-of-the-art Campus Center to help the College meet those needs. A two-story atrium houses the core of the Campus Center. Inside, the lobby connects to second floor meeting spaces and event areas that incorporate cutting-edge presentation and communication technologies. The first-floor lobby connects directly to student clubs and organizations, as well as offices for student service administration, academic counseling, and placement – centralizing all student services. Adding to the dynamics of this active space are an upgraded, consolidated food court with a Cyber Café, modernized retail space including the remodeled college bookstore, and additional support areas including a campus information service desk. Infrastructure upgrades include additional fire protection, central chiller replacement, new elevators, data and enhanced audio/visual capabilities throughout. The R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center opened in 2001 and is still the heart of all pedestrian circulation on campus today, continuing to serve the College’s ever-growing student body and the local community.
