Liberty Gardens

Originally built in the 1950’s, Liberty Gardens Apartments in Rome, NY, needed a renovation and expansion to provide modernized, safe, and affordable housing for residents.

The project consisted of the construction of seven new buildings, while the existing multi-family housing blocks were rehabilitated. Our design inserted 18 new units of multi-bedroom family units, including 6 senior housing units, 6 townhouse style units, and 6 flats.

The units on the eastern edge of the site abut an adjacent town park. The community center, at the center of the site, incorporates offices for the Rome Housing Authority, along with a project-wide laundry facility, computer lab, and kitchenette. The children’s playground and surrounding patios make prime gathering spaces for birthdays or family events during the warmer months.
