Jewish Senior Life Lifestyle and Dining Expansion

The Jewish Senior Life campus in Brighton, NY provides high-end residential accommodations and services for seniors, including independent living at The Summit. To encourage residents to spend more time outdoors, an exterior dining and lifestyle space was designed around an unused retention pond. The pond was transformed from a typical storm infrastructure into a community asset. The new spaces include a composite wood deck that cantilevers over the existing pond, timber pergolas with retractable shade fabric, an outdoor kitchen with a woodfire pizza oven, overhead string lighting, and a firepit for nighttime events.
