Inner Loop Land Disposition Strategy
The City of Rochester is undertaking an unprecedented urban initiative, the removal of its Inner-Loop highway system and the restoration of the traditional city street grid (connect neighborhoods). The project is resulting in valuable surplus real estate.
SWBR prepared a Land Disposition Strategy including design guidelines for the City of Rochester, then assisted private developers in winning development rights. SWBR prepared design concepts for several development parcels. One winning project broke ground in the fall of 2017. Negotiations are currently underway for another SWBR designed project.
The City has garnered national attention from this development, been praised by the Congress for New Urbanism and the Rose Fellowship, and has commitments for over $200 million in new real estate development over the next five years.
