Fairport Public Library Renovation

Complete transformation of a popular public library within its existing footprint.

The Fairport Public Library needed improvements to keep up with the changing times, technology and needs of the community. Because the space is leased, no structural expansion could be made, the existing space was renovated to improve site lines, increased wayfinding, safety and security. The layout was reconfigured for better circulation and functionality. The main entrance was relocated for handicap accessibility and improved visibility. Collections were resized and moved into the library’s center, clearing the windows. Each area was given a unique identity with new finishes and furniture. The Children’s and Teen areas were increased in size, and better enclosed for acoustic separation.

A New Floor Plan

Back offices were downsized, and new spaces were created to separate the library floor.

Entrance & Windows

The entrance was brought up to street level, with new windows and seating added to the perimeter to take advantage of natural light.

Amenities

Modern library amenities like self-checkout stations, new computers, and tablets were added throughout.
