Holland Stadium Turf Upgrade

Auburn ECSD’s Holland Stadium had a natural grass field, making Auburn the only AA school to not have an artificial turf field. Field maintenance had cost over $40,000 annually, yet because of grass’s delicate nature, only varsity football was allowed to use the field. Until now.

Auburn residents approved the District’s $2.8 million capital improvement project, which included turf installation at Holland Stadium. Because turf can be used multiple times a day and still maintain its condition, field upkeep will be a fraction of what it was, while use will go up dramatically – from 30 football games to a projected 200+ sporting and non-athletic events a year, allowing a full schedule of district and community activities.

SWBR helped Auburn with the pre-referendum work and completed other stadium upgrades like new bleachers and scoreboards. “Finally, our kids will have an even playing field,” said Superintendent Jeffrey Pirozzolo. “We’ve waited a long time to give this to our kids.”
