Hobart and William Smith Colleges Adams Intercultural Center
Renovated center supports student success and fosters inclusivity.
The Adams Intercultural Center offers students support and grounding for their personal growth, academic success, and the development of their leadership skills. The center’s name celebrates the legacy of Reverend Dr. Alger L. Adams, the first African American graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The “IC” center prioritizes personal growth, academic success, and leadership. Stakeholder engagement and visioning exercises informed strategies to support the center’s mission, diversity, and inclusion. During renovation, sacred elements like chalk signatures were preserved, maintaining years of student memories. The kitchen, a hub for student interaction, expanded its seating area.
