Brighton Central School District Feasibility Study

When the Brighton Central School District decided to implement full-day kindergarten classes, the District teamed up with SWBR to find existing facilities within the district that could handle the renovations needed to house this program. Through an apples-to-apples comparison of all the District’s schools, the 86,290sf Council Rock Primary School and the 55,900sf Brookside School were determined to be the best options.

Next came the comprehensive and collaborative Feasibility Study, which allowed for a well-vetted process where the community and other stakeholders had a structured way to give valuable input and insights. The study also analyzed and compared the advantages and disadvantages of developing the program at each site. Multiple options for renovation and expansion, that take into account the impact of systems and infrastructure modifications, were explored.

After careful consideration, the Council Rock Primary School location was selected. When the necessary work is completed, it will school all the Kindergarteners, first and second graders in the District. The project is currently in the design phase.
