Rochester Emergency Communications

Updated centralized emergency communications center supports multiple public safety agencies.

Established in 1986, Rochester’s Emergency Communications Department provides centralized services in Monroe County. It serves 84 public safety agencies with a staff of 192, handling over 1.2 million calls annually. To maintain its high level of service, the center required significant renovations due to technological advancements. The renovation was planned among County, City, and stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted service during the 6-week construction. The main operation and training rooms were revamped, communication systems were upgraded, and the supervisor platform was reconfigured. Furniture and acoustic panels were replaced, and the building received a fresh coat of paint and new carpeting.
