Union College Visual Arts Building
Extension of existing building offers more functionality for the Visual Arts Building.
Built in 1852 for science programs, the building formed part of the original campus plan, a comprehensive design by French architect Joseph Ramée. To expand the Visual Arts program and foster interdisciplinary collaboration, the historic building underwent a significant renovation. Highlights of the project include a three-story addition featuring a sculpture and metalworking design studio, outdoor sculpture space, public gallery expansion, improvements to the photography area, 2D and 3D design studios; and a suite of working artists’ studios for visual arts majors in all media to make and display their work.
