We’re excited to welcome new, and returning, 2021 summer interns to the firm! Ali Alsaedi, Charles Bruce, Jade Distant, and Kyle Taylor are interning at our Rochester office, while Brian Giddings is spending his summer at our Troy office.
Ali Alsaedi
Ali Alsaedi, who interned with us previously in 2019, immigrated to America in 2017 from Iraq. He heard about the internship from No One Left Behind, Rochester Chapter. He graduated from Tambov State Technical University in Tambov, Russia in 2016 and is currently enrolled in the architecture program at Rochester Institute of Technology. Ali’s passion for creating, designing, and problem solving along with his adoration for aesthetics and art drew him to the field of architecture.
Charles Bruce
Third-year intern Charles Bruce was the Urban League of Rochester SWBR scholarship winner in 2018. This summer, he has been focused on digital modeling and renderings for a range of projects throughout all studios. Charles was drawn to architecture after taking technology, engineering, and architecture classes in high school, but his decision was made after taking part in AIA’s Explorer Program, often hosted at SWBR. He is an architecture student at Virginia Tech, planning to graduate in 2023.
Jade Distant
Howard University student Jade Distant, accepted a summer internship after winning this year’s SWBR sponsored scholarship through the Urban League of Rochester. Jade has always been interested in building and planning processes needed to construct buildings and structures. She chose a career in Mechanical Engineering after discovering its connection with architecture and structural engineering. Outside of school and work, Jade enjoys listening to music, reading books, cooking, and playing soccer. She is expected to graduate in 2024.
Brian Giddings
Brian Giddings is a Master of Architecture student at Roger Williams University with experience working on medical facilities and apartment buildings. Brian’s interest in architecture started as child with Legos and building tree houses. He is excited to see the field of architecture embrace sustainability and the adaptive reuse of buildings. In his free time, Brian enjoys the outdoors and spending time with friends and family. He is expected to graduate in 2022.
Kyle Taylor
Alfred State student Kyle Taylor, a second-year intern, has been working on a range of project types including corporate, dormitories, schools, and housing. He was drawn to architecture because he enjoys the process of creating buildings – drawing, collaborating with peers, presenting ideas, and working with bright people. He was originally offered an internship after being recognized as a Black Scholar in high school and winning the SWBR sponsored scholarship from the Urban League of Rochester. He is expected to graduate in 2023.
Please join us in welcoming our 2021 summer interns!
