On Wednesday, April 28, USGBC Middle Atlantic Region hosted a free virtual event celebrating SWBR’s Housing Studio’s three recently certified LEED projects:
• DePaul’s Starting Line Apartments in Utica (LEED for Homes Gold)
• Providence Housing’s LaFrance Apartments in Elmira (LEED for Homes Gold)
• Rochester’s Cornerstone Group’s Frances II Apartments in Sweden (LEED for Homes Silver)
These affordable housing projects were acknowledged for the value they bring their occupants, their owners and the environment and this body of work was so strong that it caught the eye of the regional US Green Building Council, who contacted SWBR to propose this virtual event.
Housing Studio Principal Joe Gibbons and Principal/Sustainable Design Director Mark Maddalina were honored to speak at that celebration. They also acknowledged and celebrated the incredible work of SWBR’s Housing Studio, Interior Designers, Structural Engineers, and the entire team that makes these projects succeed.
These three developments provide healthier, more energy efficient buildings to people who need it most, delivering on the firm’s mission to positively impact lives through meaningful design.
