Tim Zigarowicz and Alli DiGiacomo Earn Passive House Certification

Congratulations to Principal Timothy Zigarowicz, AIA, and Project Designer, Alli DiGiacomo, on attaining their Certified Passive House Consultants (CPHC) accreditation’s by the Passive House Institute US (PHIUS).

The Passive House standard, one of the most stringent building energy standards in the world, aims for each building to use 90% less energy than conventionally equivalent buildings. Passive House buildings meet the highest level of energy efficiency, cost little to heat or cool, and achieve maximum air comfort. “As a signatory of the AIA 2030 Commitment, SWBR is prioritizing energy performance and carbon reductions in design to achieve carbon neutral buildings by 2030,” says Sustainable Design Director and Principal Mark Maddalina, AIA. “Tim and Alli’s CPHC certifications reinforce that commitment.”

Tim, who was recently promoted to Principal, has more than 20 years of architecture experience and has been with SWBR since 2004. He manages several of our high-profile affordable and supportive housing clients. He currently has approximately 400 units of independent and affordable housing in construction across New York State. He received an Associate in Applied Science in architectural engineering technology from SUNY College of Technology at Alfred and a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Architecture from University at Buffalo.

Alli, a former summer intern, was recently hired and is part of our Education studio. In her role, she develops drawings and 3D models for a variety of higher education and K12 projects. Alli earned her CHPC certification early in her career because she is passionate about prioritizing sustainable design solutions and energy performance in all projects. She joined the firm in May after receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Miami University.
