The $10.8 million affordable senior housing development is located at a vacant lumber mill in LeRoy, NY.
Ease of access to the Village of LeRoy downtown area, along with spectacular views of the adjacent Oatka Creek, led DePaul to choose the vacant lumber mill site as a preferred location for a new 60-unit, three-story affordable senior housing development.
The new building pays tribute to the former Lapp Lumber Mill by incorporating significant millwork and other architectural features from the mill into the building’s new central main lobby and community room. The history of the mill is also preserved and highlighted through historic photos and educational commentary, bringing the unique history of the milling process in this area to life for residents and visitors.
The project consists of 6 studio, 48 one-bedroom, and 6 two-bedroom apartments. The building incorporates second and third level lounges and viewing terraces with spectacular views overlooking the Oatka Creek to the east. On-site housing specialists provide vocational, educational and health related services.
SWBR provided architectural, interior, and structural engineering design for the project.
