On December 6, our design team joined Eastman Kodak representatives and state and local officials to celebrate the grand opening of the company’s first visitor center in Rochester.
Located in the lobby of Kodak Center, the new Visitor Center tells the story of the Kodak brand. In addition to Kodak’s innovation in photography, film, digital imaging, and printing, the exhibition space highlights the company’s profound and long-lasting effect on culture and the local community.
The visitor’s experience includes the display of historic artifacts, such as George Eastman’s star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the first digital camera, as well as the Ugly Duck Café & Retail Store. There’s also a temporary exhibit gallery, with the first exhibit highlighting the work of Kodak photographer Neil Montanus, who was responsible for a number of the Kodak Coloramas that were presented at Grand Central Station for decades.
“The exhibit itself goes through the 130 year history of Kodak, so you’ll see things from film cameras to inkjet printers and commercial printing which is what we do today,” said Kodak CFO Dave Bullwinkle.
SWBR provided architectural and interior design services for the renovation.
