NY Battery and Energy Storage Technology Test and Commercialization Center
Repurposing an existing building for testing ion batteries.
Developing emerging energy storage technologies to increase efficiency and reliability on the electric grid has been challenging. To address this, New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium (NY BEST) partnered with DNV GL to create the NY BEST Test & Commercialization Center (T&CC). A former chemical manufacturing plant in Eastman Business Park was transformed into an advanced R&D center for testing of lithium-ion batteries. The center’s design prioritizes a clean and attractive aesthetic.
