Cobbs Hill Village
The existing Cobbs Hill Village is a 60-unit, affordable senior (55+) housing complex consisting of six 1-story “motel-style” brick buildings tucked into a wooded setting adjacent to Rochester’s popular Cobbs Hill Park. Rochester Management, with SWBR, has been working with community members, organizations and officials since 2014 to replace the aging complex they built in 1957 with a modern alternative that will better facilitate aging in place and the formation of a strong community.
Four 2-story townhouses, two low-rise apartment buildings and a central community building form a neighborhood filled with walking trails and exterior gathering spaces, connecting to and celebrating the park. Brick and fiber cement exteriors in deep tones compliment the natural setting. Each apartment’s balcony or patio extends the living space outside. The 104 units—24 1- and 2-bedroom townhouse apartments and 80 traditional studio, 1- and 2-bedroom apartments—are either adaptable or fully ADA-accessible. All common amenity areas (i.e. the community building, centralized laundry, and fitness areas) and entrances are handicapped-accessible.
