St. John’s Meadows was designed to create an environment for seniors that allows for independent living in a comfortable and controlled setting. The community consists of 366 units for the well elderly. Located on 35 acres in scenic Brighton, the Meadows includes 118 congregate care units and an additional 196 independent apartments. There are also 52 cottages that add to the residential atmosphere of the site. The independent apartments offer one or two bedrooms with fully equipped kitchens. To make services at the Meadows more accessible to the residents, there is a café, a heated swimming pool and fitness center, a library and a gift shop within the complex.
Executive Director of the Meadows Vince Parks has said: “This is my sixth major project and the first with SWBR. It is, by my estimation, the most successful in bringing it to completion. SWBR has responded to our every question and been totally committed to making our project the model for our community. Design was a joint effort of us as owners, SWBR and LECESSE Construction. Choices on most items were made before specs were written, so we all knew what to expect. From an owner's perspective, this made my life easier bringing the project in at projected costs and at the quality level I expected.”
