SWBR worked with Providence Housing Development Corporation to design major redevelopment to the former Holy Rosary church, school, convent and rectory on Lexington Avenue, into affordable housing.
Holy Rosary Apartments will provide 35 apartments on the main campus and 25 new single-family homes. The 10,000 square foot historic church will become a community space, part of which will be leased to Mary’s Place Refugee Outreach that was previously housed in the rectory. Total construction funding is more than $15 million. The apartments will be located at 26 different sites in 30 buildings, and incorporates new construction, rehabilitation, adaptive reuse and historic rehabilitation.
