The Hannibal Central School District community passed a $26.9M Capital Improvement Project for improvements at the High School, Middle School and Elementary schools, and their contiguous sites. The project goals were to provide building and site improvements related to health and safety. ADA accessibility and energy efficiency of the buildings. Energy efficiencies included occupancy sensors, direct digital controls for freezers, coolers, sump pumps, heaters and exhaust fans, replacement with energy efficient doors and windows. The site work included a redesign of the campus site access and roadways and the reconstruction of the athletic fields. The site work included major drainage improvements in the form of sub-surface storage units located under the athletic fields and new parking lots due to wetlands considerations on the existing site. The project site work included replacing the existing Elementary playground due to safety concerns associated with treated lumber utilized in its original construction. The new playground and equipment comply with the national fall zone compliance requirements.
