Project Architect - Products & Services Studio, Rochester, NY

We are currently seeking a full-time Project Architect for our Products & Services Studio in our Rochester office to work on a variety of Corporate/Commercial and Municipal projects. Summary of Duties: • Develop the concept, budget, design, and documentation for the project, having direct communication with the Client/Owner and any outside consultants. Responsible for preparations, facilitating and action items. • Develop and lead the architectural design process and coordinate with the entire project team, including formation of detailed cost estimates.

Skills and qualifications: • Possess a 4-year or 5-year degree from an accredited program in Architecture required along with 5-10 years of architecture experience preferred. • Demonstrate strong abilities with organization, proactive learning, attention to detail, and efficient working habits. • Have professional experience – and be a proficient with –MS Office Suite, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Photoshop, and Illustrator. • Either be already licensed in New York or demonstrate ability and motivation to complete the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Architectural Experience Program® (AXP®) and obtain licensure in New York within 1-2 years of hire.

Administrative Assistant - full time (Rochester, NY)

The ideal candidate is organized and dependable and will maintain a highly-responsive relationship with staff.

Summary of Duties:

• Assist in preparation of agreements, proposals, letters and contract documents using standard templates and guidelines.

• Regularly update data in various databases - clients, contracts, project history, etc.

• Attend and take minutes of assigned meetings and distribute action item lists.

• Perform administrative support tasks including typing of reports, scheduling meetings, taking meeting minutes, coordinating vendor visits/product sessions, etc.

 

The candidate should have the following skills and qualifications:

• Possess a high school diploma required and an Associate’s degree in business administration or other related field along with 3+ years’ administrative experience preferred.

• Be a proficient user of Microsoft Word and Excel and possess the aptitude to learn database and contract documents software.

• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills, be a proactive learner, maintain attention to detail and be customer focused, and demonstrate excellent time management skills.

• Ability to proofread and check typed material for grammatical, typographical, spelling, word usage, mathematical and formatting errors.

• Ability to keep sensitive information and materials confidential.

Specifications Writer (Rochester, NY)

We are seeking a Specifications Writer to join our Rochester office.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 year's previous Architectural/Engineering experience and Bachelor's degree or vocational school education in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Technology.

Summary of Duties:

  • Use knowledge of application of materials and methods during construction to write specifications for a variety of projects and building types including: corporate, industrial, financial, educational, and healthcare according to MasterSpec.
  • Assist teams in determining material and contract requirements for architectural projects.
  • Conduct product research including reviewing product literature, manufacturers' websites, industry standards, trade association publications, building codes, and sustainability rating systems as necessary to ensure that materials and systems are appropriate for the Project.
  • Ensure that the specification is coordinated within itself and to the Contract Drawings.  Ensure that specifications are clear and concise and exhibit correct format, grammar, and spelling.
  • Maintain a written Project Manual (including specifications), which matches the project requirements.
  • Organize Project Manual as necessary for distribution.
  • Interact with consultants to ensure that their specifications are properly coordinated with the Project Manual.
  • Respond to technical and editorial questions.
  • Assist team in answering questions and develops addenda during bidding.
  • Assist project team with construction of the project, including commenting on product submittals and substitutions.
  • Solve projects with specifications when discovered during construction.  Visit site and attend construction meetings when requested.
  • Successfully meet project hourly budget requirements and deadlines.

The Specifications Writer should have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or vocational school education in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Technology
  • Minimum of 3 year's previous Architectural/Engineering experience
  • Previous experience editing MasterSpec, preferred
  • Construction Document Technologist certification (CDT), preferred
  • Familiar with building codes and ordinances
  • Understanding of construction materials, systems, and methods
  • Experience in writing construction specifications for building projects
  • Solid research experience/methodology.
