SWBR Greens Gibbs Street
Just in time for Earth Day! Today staff members from SWBR and Broccolo Tree and Landscape turned four parking spaces on Gibbs Street in downtown Rochester into an "urban park". Sod from Batavia Turf was laid down, and plants and trees from Broccolo Tree and Lanscape were placed in front of businesses along Gibbs Street, occupying the parking spaces in front of Java's Cafe, also a sponsor of the event. This is the third year that we have "greened" the street to bring awareness of the importance of green space in urban environments.
We also hosted a series of events throughout the week, including lunch sessions on sustainable topics such as FUTURE EARTH, a Documentary on trying to predict what will happen in the future in relation to sustainablae initiatives: Nearly half of the Amazon rainforest has been deforested, Hi-tech, intelligent buildings are revolutionizing the urban landscape, Smaller, safer, hitech automobiles, Major advances in air travel comfort etc. On Friday our employees presented a Pecha Kucha and talked about what do we each do that promotes sustainability in our projects, in our work environment, or in our homes?
