Rescue Mission Celebrates Grand Opening of New Day Shelter

Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Syracuse's Rescue Mission opened a $7.2 million wing that will, for the first time, open the shelter to women as well as men. The new 24-hour facility expands the Rescue Mission's shelter capacity by 50 beds to host 183 people. The SWBR team designed the project, which renovated the old recreation center and provided an addition that includes a second floor. The site is now a secure place where homeless men and women will be able to stay separately as they get support. The facility includes an Employment and Education Resource Center along with a health services wing, laundry room and fitness center.  Those in need of help will be able to get assistance in finding a job and get the support they need to get off the street.
