9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Monroe Community College

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

Monroe Community College hosted a September 11 Remembrance Ceremony at its permanent 9/11 memorial today.  SWBR's Senior Associate, Mark Maddalina, worked with the college and designed it 10 years ago as a way to dedicate a place of remembrance, reflection and healing for the community.

When the sun shines through it, it casts a shadow of the twin towers. President Emeritus R. Thomas Flynn gave the keynote address, commemorating those who lost their lives in the 2001 terrorist attacks.

At today's service, more than 100 people attended and placed flowers and flags at the base of the monument. This year’s event was sponsored by the Brighton Campus Student Government Association and the Campus Activities Board.
